a-venture: an unusual and exciting experience or activity based out of an a-frame camper

Hi, friends!

Russ and Trish at Sedona, AZ

We’re Russ and Trish. Originally from near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we’ve called Henderson, NV our home for the past 12-ish years. We met in college and our love for the outdoors, technology, music, and Wes Anderson films brought us together and eventually to Las Vegas.

In the past, Trish worked as a zookeeper, environmental educator, and park ranger, but now holds a steady desk job in public relations and communication. Russ is has been the responsible one with the steady job as a web developer for over 14 years.

The Great A-venturers with our truck and a-frame camper

After years of camping in tents and then a tent pop-up camper, we upgraded our camping experience to an a-frame pop-up. The upgrade let us go on far more adventures - ahem, a-ventures - and enjoy more time together.

The other members of our family are Shuby, our shiba inu who came to live with us at four but is now nearly 16 years old, and Hines, a black lab that we rescued at two and is now 10 years old. Shuby’s favorite thing is being pet next to the campfire. Hines’ favorite thing is digging gigantic holes under picnic tables in campsites or anywhere there is dirt to dig.

The Hardware

Our cabin-on-wheels, as we call her, is a 2016 Comet Starcraft H1235 Extreme. It’s equipped with a dinette, sink, stove, fridge, cassette toilet, indoor/outdoor shower, and 15” wheels for going off the beaten path. For towing, we’re use a 2016 Toyota Tacoma with the TRD offroad package.

A-venturous Values

We know our lives on this Earth are short. We value family, conservation, and contentment as the things that matter the most.

  • We invest in our relationships with each other, our families, and our friends.
  • We take strides to live and travel sustainably and follow Leave No Trace principles
  • We work to live, not live to work. We try to find contentment and happiness in all things - especially when life doesn’t go as planned.

We look forward to sharing our travels and our adventures in our a-frame pop up with you all. If you’d like to get in touch, reach out to us on social or drop us a line through email.
